Bad idea: Publicly shaming your kid isn't cool.

• Out of the woodwork they come! In my opinion, if you have to strike your child to drive home your "message", there are serious communication problems in your parent/child relationship.

• I don't see what you're seeing @laser-629250. I didn't need to humiliate or strike my kids to get my point across and they turned out just fine. Respect is EARNED and should be mutual. Parents should lead by example.

• Just had a thought though--maybe it's regional, like kids around you are more likely to mouth off?

• I would have experimented to see if food dye made my kids any more or less hyper, however my kids weren't ever hyper (born in 1984 & 1986)

Yes. And I hope she makes changes in our schools. Kids need more recess and gym time.
